Begin with a Treaty Workshop

It’s really exciting to be back. We have been busy preparing classrooms, organising resources and planning exciting learning programmes for our children and our school.

Our focus this year is to strengthen our school values through ‘Caring - Learning - Growing Together’ with the environment as our context.

To begin our journey, our BOT and staff participated in a Treaty of Waitangi workshop, lead by Margaret Kawharu. Margaret shared the history of the Treaty
through the eyes of Ngati Whatua. She then took us on a tour of the area, starting at Muriwai and stopping to share the history of local pa sites and other historical places. We all gained a great deal from this experience - a deeper understanding and appreciation of the history, culture and specialness of our
wider community and our local whanau/families.
